Topic: The Evolution of Managing Projects with Mindfulness and Core Energy Leadership
Presenter: Bill Wagner, PMP
The connection between Mindfulness and Performance has been researched and reported on very heavily in sports and highly intense activities. In the business world today, short-term gains are driving executive leadership to look to result-oriented investments to produce the results to keep their jobs and produce their bonuses. Project Management has become some of the most important aspects of producing those results and Project Managers are thrown into the crosshairs of the eyes of all those who have a stake in keeping their jobs and generating their bonuses.
Whether traditional waterfall or agile approaches are being applied, the level of pressure, oversight, interference and overall conditions of managing projects leads to an increase in anxiety, acts of anger, apathy, and disengagement.
As a result, Project Management has evolved into Project Leadershipwhere the Project Manager needs to not only be an expert in the principles of project management but also responsible to inspire team members, to spark innovation from team members, to mentor team members, and to reward team members.
A revolutionary approach to maximize Project Leadership is to improve skills related to Mindfulness and Core Energy.
By increasing Mindfulness, Project Leaders achieve a higher level of consciousness for themselves as well as the team members, which has a positive impact on projects in terms of the relatedness of people, tasks, and results. Hence, Mindfulness improves project team member interactions, communications, and collaboration.
By recognizing and responding to project team members’ Core Energylevels, Project Leaders inspire and attract higher levels of productivity and achievement.
This session will present what Mindfulness is and isn’t as well as present what Core Energy is and isn’t.
This session will also provide some quick exercises to demonstrate how practicing Mindfulness and recognizing and responding to Core Energy can help project teams grow, which can be the start of a journey for a Project Manager to become the best Project Leader he or she can be.
