Do you want to be considered one of the best employees on your team? In your group? At your company? Looking for ideas on how you can improve your performance and become known as “one of the best"? If you want to set yourself apart and grow within your organization, you’ll want to make every effort to establish yourself as a reliable, eager, competent and value-adding professional! In this session, we’ll highlight our top 15 traits for becoming a top performer, which include being proactively helpful, providing unanticipated value, and having the mentality that building relationships with all internal and external stakeholders and providing superior customer service are part of every job description.

Erica Woods, Manager of IT Contractor Programs and Philanthropy – Apex Systems 

Erica oversees programs, teams, communication channels, and other resources that support and add value to their National IT Contractor Community of 15,000+. Erica also oversees corporate philanthropy efforts and acts as a technical community evangelist. She has 12+ years of experience in the IT staffing world and an MBA from Loyola University. She delivers Career Development webcasts and writes articles for Apex and the online technical community, speaks at tech community conferences such as BA World/PM Summit, PMI PDD events and SQL Saturdays, and provides internal and external Team, Attitude, Performance, Career and Hiring Coaching. Erica also is a Co-Organizer for the Tampa and Baltimore Tech4Good groups, which are Tech Soup NetSquared groups that bring together technical folks looking for skills-based volunteering opportunities with nonprofits in need of technology help/guidance/troubleshooting. 

Chris O’Hare, Vice President of Operations, Principal – Apex Systems 

Chris is the Vice President of Operations for Apex’s Florida District.  In his 14+ year career with Apex, Chris has successfully served in several key positions, including more than 7 years as a local Technical Recruiter based in Baltimore, Sr. Account Manager and then National Account Director for a key government client, which grew to be Apex’s largest government client during that time. This was followed by more than 3 years based in Boston, managing all operations and personnel for Apex’s New England District, which included Apex’s Boston and Rhode Island offices. During this time, the New England District team experienced revenue growth of nearly 100%    

Over the last 2.5 years, Chris has served as VP of Operations based in Tampa, FL. Chris is responsible for Apex’s Florida District, comprised of 4 physical operations located in Ft. Lauderdale, Tampa, Orlando, and Jacksonville, a team of 6 managers, more than 50 recruiting and account management professionals focused on growing a portfolio of more than 110 clients and more than 500 contract employees.

Continuing Certification Requirements:

Technical project management: Knowledge, skills and behaviors related to specific domains of Project, Program and Portfolio Management.

Leadership: Knowledge, skills and behaviors specific to leadership-oriented, cross-cutting activities that help an organization achieve its business goals.

Strategic and business management: Knowledge of and expertise in the industry or organization that enhances performance and better delivers business outcomes.


This session will provide you 1.5 PDU towards Leadership.
