Topic:  Virtual Project Management

Summary: The basic elements of project management do not change, but they get more challenging in the virtual environment.  This session will identify best practices, high-level risks and the impact that of our new world on managing a project virtually.  In addition to the content of the session, the presenters will provide their insights and experiences as practitioners in delivery of Project Management services in the virtual word.

Christopher M. Downs, MBA, PMP 

Chris Downs joined New Resources Consulting as the Vice President of Client Delivery in May of 2019.  Downs has been working in Information Technology field for the past 20+ years both on the consulting and as an executive of Information Technology.  In his current role, he is responsible for aspects of Client Delivery Information Technology from a strategic and operational perspective. 

Prior to joining New Resources Consulting he was the Senior Vice President of Information Technology and Innovation at Laser Spine Institute, he was the Associate Vice President of the Enterprise Project Management Office at Wake Forest Baptist Memorial Hospital and was a Vice-President of Information Services with Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA).  He has also held the roles of Vice-President, National Director of Consulting, Managing Principal, and Director of Information Systems. 

Downs has been involved in industry non-profit organizations and non-profit charity organizations.  He is currently serving on the board as the President and Past President of the Tampa Bay Society of Information Management (SIM) Chapter.  He is also on the board of the Children’s Cancer Center of Tampa Bay.  He is a member of the College of Information Health Executives (CHIME), the Project Management Institute (PMI), and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) and has presented nationally at both organizations. 

Downs earned his BA degree in Management Information Systems and Marketing from the University of Wisconsin, and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Marquette University.  He is a 2012 graduate of the CHIME CIO Bootcamp, and is guest lecturer at Marquette University College of Business Administration and Wake Forest University.
